Testosterone Gel: What It’s For, How to Use & Side Effects

Tell your doctor right away if you have chest pain that may spread to your arms, jaw, back, or neck, faintness, headache, nausea, vomiting, trouble breathing, trouble seeing or speaking, or unusual sweating. The amount of medicine that you take depends on the strength of the medicine. Also, the number of doses you take each day, the time allowed between doses, and the length of time you take the medicine depend on the medical problem for which you are using the medicine. Testosterone topical gel is used for the treatment of males whose bodies do not make enough natural testosterone, a condition called hypogonadism. Testosterone is a male hormone responsible for the growth and development of the male sex organs and maintenance of secondary sex characteristics. This medicine may be used for other purposes; ask your health care provider or pharmacist if you have questions. The information contained herein is provided for educational purposes only and is not intended to replace discussions with a healthcare provider.

You will need frequent blood tests and your blood pressure will need to be checked often. Do not take other medicines unless they have been discussed with your doctor. This includes prescription or nonprescription (over-the-counter [OTC]) medicines and herbal or vitamin supplements. This medicine may cause fluid retention (edema) in some patients. Tell your doctor right away if you have bloating or swelling of the face, arms, hands, lower legs, or feet, tingling of the hands or feet, or unusual weight gain or loss.

Topical testosterone pills cvs (www.primopianomolise.it) may increase your risk of sleep apnea, which is a condition where breathing stops and starts again while sleeping. You may be at higher risk of sleep apnea if you have obesity or lung problems, such as asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Tell your health care provider if you or your bed partner notices that you have symptoms such as snoring, sleepiness during the day, restless sleeping, or waking up suddenly after gasping or choking. Liver damage, also called hepatotoxicity, can happen when using topical testosterone.

Well, this won’t be good news if you’re a manager… because it’s probably your fault. Testosterone is a vital hormone that supports male characteristics and overall health.

Tell your health care provider if you have any worsening prostate symptoms, such as having a hard time peeing or a weak flow, more frequent peeing, or having an urgent need to pee. Tell your health care provider about all of your health conditions and any prescription or over-the-counter (OTC) medicines, vitamins/minerals, herbal products, and other supplements you are using. This will help them know if topical testosterone is right for you.

In some of the cases, direct contact with the sites of application on the skin of men using testosterone gel was reported. In at least one reported case, the reporter considered the possibility of secondary exposure from items such as the testosterone gel user’s shirts and/or other fabric, such as towels and sheets [see WARNINGS AND PRECAUTIONS (5.2)]. For 7 days, moisturizing lotion or sunscreen (SPF 50) was applied daily to the testosterone gel 1.62% application site 1 hour after the application of testosterone gel 1.62% 40.5 mg. Application of moisturizing lotion increased mean testosterone Cavg and Cmax by 14% and 17%, respectively, compared to testosterone gel 1.62% administered alone. Application of sunscreen increased mean testosterone Cavg and Cmax by 8% and 13%, respectively, compared to testosterone gel 1.62% applied alone. In a randomized, open-label, single-dose, 2-way crossover study in 16 healthy male subjects, the effect of hand washing on the amount of residual testosterone on the hands was evaluated. Subjects used their hands to apply the maximum dose (81 mg testosterone) of testosterone gel 1.62% to their upper arms and shoulders.

Tell your doctor if you have ever had any unusual or allergic reaction to this medicine or any other medicines. Also tell your health care professional if you have any other types of allergies, such as to foods, dyes, preservatives, or animals. For non-prescription products, read the label or package ingredients carefully. AndroGel is a controlled substance (CIII) because it contains testosterone that can be a target for people who abuse prescription medicines. Keep it in a safe place to protect it and never give it to anyone else. Bodybuilders who supplement with testosterone often have enhanced muscle strength and bone density as well as decreased body fat. But bodybuilders take supraphysiologic doses of it—that is, amounts much higher than any woman’s body would ever make on its own.

Be ready to tell or show what was taken, how much, and when it happened. Sometimes employees agree that they have everything they need to perform well, and they are actually working as hard and smart as they can. This might not resonate with what the company requires from them, so in these cases, the managers need to realize that the employee is not underperforming, they’re simply performing at the best of their abilities. If you haven’t made it a habit to ask for their feedback yet (which is why they’re underperforming in the first place), then it’s better late than never. Initiate genuinely open conversations with your employees.

Do not apply testosterone gel 1.62% to any other parts of the body, including the abdomen, genitals, chest, armpits (axillae), or knees [see CLINICAL PHARMACOLOGY (12.3)]. Area of application should be limited to the area that will be covered by the patient’s short sleeve t-shirt. Patients should be instructed to use the palm of the hand to apply testosterone gel 1.62% and spread across the maximum surface area as directed in Table 2 (for pump) and in Figure 1. Possible side effects include acne, hair growth on the face and body, male-pattern hair loss, and oily skin. Excessive doses of testosterone can result in irreversible side effects such as enlargement of the clitoris and lowering of the voice.

In one study, 8 male subjects applied a single dose of testosterone gel 1.62% 81 mg to their shoulders and upper arms. Two (2) hours after application, female subjects rubbed their hands, wrists, arms, and shoulders to the application site of the male subjects for 15 minutes. Serum concentrations of testosterone were monitored in female subjects for 24 hours after contact occurred.
